FAQ
Q1
At what age can donate sperm or eggs?
In accordance with the artificial reproduction law, males are between 20 and 50 years old, and females are between 20 and 40 years old.
Q2
Do I need to stay in hospital after IVF embryo implantation?
No need to be hospitalized. After implantation, you need to lie flat for 15 minutes without discomfort then you can go home and rest. Hospitalization or bed rest all day will not increase the pregnancy rate or implantation rate. The pregnancy rate is related to the quality of the embryo.
Q3
Do I need an injection every day? Will it hurt?
Injections can be separated into long-acting and short-acting. The doctor will decide different kind of injections according to each person's condition. The long-acting ovulation injection can last for seven days, while the short-acting one needs to be injected daily, and the two can also be used during one ovulation cycle. At present, ovulation injections are mostly subcutaneous injections, which greatly reduces the pain of injections. You can inject yourself at home. If you are reluctant of self-administered injections, you can also go to the clinic to be assisted by a nurse. There will be no additional charge for injections.

Q6
How will the egg retrieval be performed? Is egg retrieval painful?
The egg retrieval operation will be scheduled from 8:00 to 12:00 AM, and the operation will last about 20 to 40 minutes (the operation time varies with the number of eggs). You should fast, consuming no food or water for 8 hours before the egg retrieval.
General anesthesia with targeted controlled infusion is used during the operation, and the eggs are retrieved under the guidance of vaginal ultrasound. After the operation, you can go home after about 1 hour of supervision. You do not need to be hospitalized, but you must ask for taking the leave of absence on the same day.
Only a pinhole wound remains after the operation, so no sutures are required.
Because the egg retrieval process is under general anesthesia, the operation is like falling asleep. When you wake up, the operation has been completed already. Basically, you don’t feel it. Only a small number of people will feel the same soreness as during menstrual period. Some people may also feel bloating.

Q9
Will there be sequelae or side effects after freezing eggs? Will it causes early menopause?
Basically, the egg freezing treatment has minimal impact on the body and there will be no sequelae. Only women with polycystic syndrome may develop ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) because they respond too well to the drug. Therefore, for women with this condition, doctors will lower the dosage of stimulants to avoid possible side effects.
There are fixed number of oocytes at birth. Once puberty begins, every menstrual cycle there are dozens of eggs are ready to develop into maturity in each ovary . Without any drug enhancement , the female hormones secreted in the body is only enough to supply 1-2 eggs to mature, and the rest of the small follicles that have not been selected will shrink by themselves and be metabolized by the body.
Ovulation medicine only saves the eggs that would have discard in each cycle, and provides enough hormones to sustain these eggs to grow up and be taken out. Therefore, future eggs will not be used, nor will it affect the egg stock or make menopause arrive early .

Q18
How is the egg retrieval process performed?
General anesthesia is used during the egg retrieval, just like falling asleep without pain. Physicians use transvaginal ultrasound to determine the location of the follicles, and then extract the follicular fluid from the ovaries with an egg retrieval needle. The process takes about 15 to 30 minutes. There is no scar left, and the wound does not need to be stitched. After the egg retrieval, there is no need to be hospitalized. If there is no discomfort, you can go home and rest.
Q19

Men need to abstain from sexual intercourse for 2-5 days before the sperm collection. After the sperm collection is completed and six months later, they will return to the clinic to draw blood. After checking the items specified by the National Health Service and confirming that there is no problem, they will be given a nutritional gold of NT$8,000. Women need to wait for the clinic to do recipient match (about 1-3 months) before starting the course of treatment. It takes about two weeks from the start of ovulation injection to the egg retrieval operation, and a nutritional compensation of NT$99,000 will be given within two weeks after the operation.
